Saw this show in Chicago last year. I wasn't the biggest Jimmy Buffett fan although I knew his music. I'd say I was familiar with about a third of the songs that were in the show. But that didn't stop me from really enjoying it. My favorite part was the humor. The show was way funnier than I expected because it wasn't really advertised as a comedy so I wasn't expecting that at all. And seeing how they brought everything together using his songs was really cool. Not sure how Jimmy Buffett managed to do that but I guess he's written a few books so he knows a thing or two about story telling. There were a few songs I thought were slow but nothing that would stop me from going again. If you're looking for a fun night out this is definitely the escape that it promises to be. Be warned that there might be some super fans that sing along to the songs. Some people near me were annoyed by that but I didn't mind.

GREAT
This show was great! It was exciting and just great overall, the love story was great and also included hilarious humor at the same time! I recommend this 100 percent to everyone!!!

I LOVED THE ESCAPE
I really enjoyed the performance of Escape to Margaritaville. I have been a loyal fan of Jimmy Buffett for years, and the play gave me a new way to think about the music I enjoy listening to. I was very impressed on how the play was written around the songs I know my heart.

GREAT FUN!
If you are willing to “escape” this is a great show! Lots of fun for an evening. Loved the performances of the cast!

KITSCHY FUN
I thoroughly enjoyed Margaritaville for what it is... a kitschy musical built around Jimmy Buffet songs. The setting is a third-rate beach resort on an unnamed island with a volcano, the singing, dance choreography and set changes fit and added to the setting. It’s what I would expect to find at an all-inclusive beach resort and left me wanting to plan a low-key beach vacay of my own. Buffet songs were cleverly woven into the plot line, adding to the humor and fun.

ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE
We thought it was a great show and loved the comedy.
Loved the way the audience participated in some of the songs.

LIKED IT ALOT!!....GREAT PERFORMANCES
Saw the show in Hartford. I honestly did not think I was going to like it and even tried to give the tickets away..no takers (lucky for me!)
I ENJOYED the show and especially the performances by the principals (all of them). I especially enjoyed Kyle Southern's (Tully). Kyle was the understudy...but easily stepped in to the lead with ease and confidence and lead this cast and the audience on an incredible journey.
Sarah Hinrichsen (Rachel), Emily Qualamann (Tammy), and Peter Michael Jordan (Brick) formed an incredible group that balanced the story. All were very well suited for their roles and entertaining. Patrick Cogan (JD) was enjoyable as a man of a certain age but fit in very well with the young cast and his role on his quest for his "LOST SHAKER OF SALT". The ensemble...all of them were talented and very enjoyable. There were a few sound cues missed but were not distracting to the show.....GET TICKETS for this show if it comes to your area...It was a nice start to our 20 month absence from the Bushnell and the perfect upbeat show and talented cast to open the LOOOONG AWAITED season!!..CONGRATULATIONS to the entire cast and crew of this show....and THANK YOU!!!

JUST OK--ACTUALLY 2.5 STARS
Just OK....seemed like something put together hastily as a vehicle for the music.Cast weren't the best singers and watching the scenery switches it felt a bit like I was watching a high school play.I generally LOVE musicals like this (have seen Jersey Boys 5 times!) but won't be repeating this one.

NEEDS BETTER SINGERS
I agree with other post that voices were high pitched and off key. Not worth $85...C-

A GOOD BUT NOT GREAT ESCAPE
Loved hearing some Buffet songs that I hadn’t heard in awhile, or in some cases, snippets of them. Liked how the songs were woven into the plot (or vice versa). Some main character vocals were not up to par. Almost felt like producers felt party vibe and Buffet music would make us overlook the off key notes. At times I felt like I was watching a high school musical with good sets. But having said all that, I still was able to enjoy the show for the music and beach vibe.

LEAD SINGER WAS OFF KEY
All fine except lead singer couldn't hold the tunes

DISAPPOINTING
My wife and I are Buffet fans, but this show was not great. Some of the songs were recognizable, some were not. The performers were good, but this was not the first team. It seemed this was a halfhearted attempt to cash in on the success of Mama Mia and Jersey Boys, but it was not in their league. We left at intermission.

NOT ENOUGH SUBSTANCE FOR A MUSICAL!
Unless you are as die hard a Buffett fan as you can be....not worth it. the music is not enough to carry this weak plot about being lazy. So disappointed as we have season tickets and the other plays this season have been amazing. Oh well, win some, lose some.

AWFUL
The story was poor, and cast was uninspiring. Seemed like trying to cash in on a musical by stringing together a few Jimmy Buffet songs. Left early

MARGARITAVILLE BOMB
I just thought this musical was the worst. The music did not sound like Buffet and you just could not get in the mood. Too high pitched in the singing.

ESCAPE FROM SEEING THIS SHOW
This show was terrible. Stock stereotypical characters. Misogynistic lead was the worst character. Smart female scientist just needs to drink and have sex to relax. Terrible message to send. We left at intermission.

FOR PARROT HEADS ONLY
I was unimpressed by the voices, the plot (??), the choreography, the acting, the staging. Maybe it got better; we left at intermission.

I WISH WE HAD ESCAPED FROM THIS SHOW!
This show was a great disappointment. It is not a Broadway caliber show and the two lead characters can not sing or act. DCPA should not have forced this show on their subscribers. It lacks the creativity, talent and energy of Mama Mia which it seems like it was trying to be. I like Jimmy Buffet, but the songs didn't capture his music and the plot is very lame. We have seen more talent at every other Broadway show we have seen or in shows at the Arvada Center, Boulder Dinner Theatre or even Ralston Valley High School Musicals. Have a margarita while listening to Jimmy Buffet instead.

HIGH SCHOOL QUALITY
Cringe worthy production. The DCPA needs to be more discerning. This was embarrassing in every qualitative respect, plot, dialogues, voices, sets, choreography, sound, music.

THERE'S NOT ENOUGH TEQUILA IN THE WORLD TO MAKE YOU LIKE THIS "SHOW"!!!
I was there at the Dolby opening night. The stage is shroud in a sheet with a lighting effect to look like water. It looked more like an elementary school production. It was downhill from there. The singers were off key and there was one set with the band members on stage as part of the set. I sat there for an hour thinking - it has to get better. Cheesy story, terrible actors and to top it off - they destroyed my beloved Buffet songs! Jimmy Buffet showed up for the opening night but I can't imagine he sat there through the entire thing. I had an awesome seat right smack in the middle of the theater but it was so bad that I couldn't bear it any longer. I didn't wait for the intermission to leave - along with many others - I had to get out of there and get a drink - not to celebrate the show - but to FORGET this waste of time, money and energy! I can only imagine that it will close very quickly and be only remembered as the WORST Broadway show I've ever seen! Amateur at BEST!
Steph from Los Angeles, California
THE WORST MUSICAL I HAVE EVER SEEN
Even with low expectations and a knowledge of the source material music, this is easily the worst musical I have ever seen. It makes the Phantom sequel look like an amazing piece of theater... The writing is just cringe-worthy. Seriously considered leaving during intermission.
Hopefully in the minority because others seem to have enjoyed it. But we had people next to us that paid $6 to see the show. You can tell the struggle to sell tickets is real. If we had only paid $6 to see it as well, I might not dislike it as much as I did. If you're a Buffet fan, sure you will prob have a blast. Anyone else, probably not...
